About the Speakers



Wee Hyong Tok
Partner Director of Products, Microsoft Cloud and AI
 
Wee Hyong is Partner Director of Products, with the Cloud and AI organization at Microsoft. He is a seasoned Data and AI leader with a proven track record of building successful businesses and growing it from zero to sustained industry leadership positions.




Sarah Chan
Principal, Sage Bionetworks

Sarah Chan has a PhD in Molecular Biology and 12 years global business development experience in taking early stage life science technologies to market by scouting for, evaluating and negotiating partnerships between startups, corporates, and academia. Her experience spans working in technology transfer as well as multinational corporations like L'Oreal and Evonik. She moved from Singapore to Seattle in Feb 2023 and is currently Principal at Sage Bionetworks, where she identifies, develops, and executes strategic partnerships that support Sage Bionetworks' mission to accelerate biomedical research through open science and collaboration. She serves as Chair of Women in Bio (Seattle), an organization of professionals committed to promoting careers, leadership, and entrepreneurship of women in the life sciences. She is also an angel investor and enjoys mentoring startups in her spare time.



Prof Xuan-Thao Nguyen
Director of the Asian Law Center,
University of Washington


Prof Nguyen is the Pendleton Miller Chair in Law and Director of the Asian Law Center at the University of Washington School of Law. Professor Nguyen also serves as the Senior Consultant to the World Bank IFC in Vietnam, Cambodia, the Phillippines, Nepal, Bhutan, Mongolia, and China, among other countries. Her latest book was published in 2024 by Cambridge University Press and focuses on banking, VC, and financing sectors.



Ann Kwan
Regional Director, EDB International Operations

Ann is a Regional Director within the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB)’s International Operations team. Based in EDB’s San Francisco Bay Area office, Ann engages with American companies across sectors to explore synergies and opportunities for growth in the Asia Pacific region through Singapore.
