Description
The goal of the camp is to introduce redstone structures and building in Minecraft. During the camp, the students will create their own escape room with hidden secret rooms, logic puzzles, labyrinths and many redstone mechanics.
Classroom activities during the camp
• Learn the basics of Minecraft building and redstone engineering
• Design and build hidden rooms, logic-based puzzles, and labyrinths
• Experiment with advanced redstone circuits, including different types of memory storage elements with flip-flops
• Develop a fully playable escape room adventure with traps, secret doors, and special effects
• Practice game design principles while planning an engaging escape challenge
Syllabus for the Camp:
Day 1:
On the first day, we log into the server, and each student gets their own space where they will build their creations throughout the week. Different types of escape rooms are introduced, and we begin designing our own version in Minecraft. We build the starting point of the game, from where the escape room will begin, and we also get to know some basic redstone mechanisms.
Day 2:
On the second day, we create the entrance to the first room and then start building the second room. Various hints and clues are placed inside the rooms to help players progress to the next room. By the end of the day, we also begin planning the third room.
Day 3:
After building a unique door for the third room, we start constructing a labyrinth, which will be illuminated by Redstone-powered lamps. We then build the fourth room, where players will have to navigate through hidden traps, and we begin preparations for the next room.
