Vietnam's GDP per capita grew 50% over 4 years reaching US$2,000 in 2013. The rise in demand for quality consumer goods has attracted new entrants into the market, most recently with Mapletree's and Keppel Land's new mall launches. The government's plan to boost tourist arrivals has led to an upgrading of existing attractions, beaches and islands; Phu Quoc Island has been identified for resort development.
