About the speakers
Ms Cheah Swee Gim, Director & Senior Partner, Kelvin Chia Partnership
Cheah Swee Gim heads the Myanmar practice at Kelvin Chia Yangon Ltd as its Director and is a Senior Partner at Kelvin Chia Partnership in Singapore. Swee Gim has more than 25 years of experience in a range of corporate and commercial matters/practice areas in Myanmar and throughout the region, such as mergers and acquisitions, demergers, joint ventures, investments, corporate reorganisations and restructurings, and the sale and purchase of businesses and undertakings.
Mr Marlon Wui, Partner, Kelvin Chia Partnership
Marlon Wui is a Partner at Kelvin Chia Partnership and a Foreign Consulting Attorney at Kelvin Chia Yangon Ltd. Marlon has substantive corporate and commercial experience in Southeast Asia, including Myanmar, Indonesia, and the Philippines. As part of the Myanmar practice group, he works in collaboration with the firm’s Yangon-based lawyers in rendering advisory work and providing transactional assistance to clients on a range of legal/regulatory issues and projects/transactions.
Mr U Than Maung, Member, Kelvin Chia Yangon Ltd
U Than Maung is a seasoned member of Kelvin Chia Yangon Ltd, having started his private practice with the firm in 1997. Prior to joining the firm, he was a Public Attorney with the Attorney General’s Office of the Union of Myanmar for 16 years. In 2011, he was appointed by the Myanmar People’s Parliament to be a member of the Commission for the Assessment of Legal Affairs and Special Issues, a think tank assisting the Myanmar People’s Parliament on the drafting, review and revision of laws. His main areas of practice include intellectual property and trademark registration, foreign investments and commercial transactions.
