Introduction

Singaporean-based companies are increasingly expanding their operations into Malaysia, attracted by relatively cheaper labour and land factors. The Land Productivity Grant is a programme that supports companies which choose to relocate some operations to Malaysia, which retaining core functions in Singapore. The establishment of subsidiaries in and around the region, including Malaysia, is often underpinned by an element of tax efficiency which has led to transfer pricing (i.e., the pricing of related party transactions) a key concept that finance, treasury and operations professionals have to pay attention to.
