Just five years into his appointment as CEO of McDonald’s China, Mr Kenneth Chan clinched the coveted “Outstanding CEO Award (Overseas)” at the 2013 Singapore Business Awards.
Against the backdrop of 2009’s global recession, he was tasked to restructure McDonald’s China business for rapid and sustainable growth. Under Mr Chan’s helm, McDonald’s China’s revenue doubled to more than US$2.5 billion, profits grew by 90%, making it the fastest growing market for the firm globally. Today, China serves as a global model for McDonald’s expansion in emerging markets.
