Canberra Drive NC Kayak ‘N’ Klean
The Kayak N Klean programme is one of PAssion Wave's signature activities that combines water sports with environmental conservation.
Get ready to orientate yourself to the basics of kayaking & head out to Sea for a meaningful clean-up.
Who knows? You might be able to spot the various animals we are trying to protect via this clean-up.
Participants will use Sit-on-top kayaks in pairs to paddle. Pails, Tongs and gloves will be provided.
This is a trainer led programme.
Q: Do I need certificate to join this?
A: No certification is required, just a keen and open mind with lots of excitement.
Q: What is the purpose of this programme?
A: Participants learn about Project Blue Wave through sharing by trainers. They gain insights on how our environment is impacted by our lifestyles and how the environment affects us. They get to experience kayaking in the sea and also do their part for the environment by cleaning up the rubbish along the shorelines. Through this programme, PAWV hope that participants will be motivated to make a change to kick start environmental awareness and stewardship.
Q: What is Project Blue Wave?
A: An intiative by PAssion Wave to help Singaporeans build a sense of ownership towards our environment through education on Marine Biodiversity and environment conservation.
Q: Can children join this programme?
A: All children need to be 10 years old and above. They need to be accompanied by an adult(above 21 years old)
Q: How long is the programme?
A: The duration of programme is 4 hours, includes registration, briefing and wash up time.
Q: Is there certificate after the programme?
A: No, this is not a certified course but you can sign up to be our Project Blue Wave Ambassador after the programme to inspire change and do more.
Q: Can closed deck kayak be used?
A: Typically all participants will be paired and paddle using the open-deck kayaks for easy identification as part of the group. If there is an odd number, the participant with a minimum 1 Star kayaking certification will be offered a closed deck.
Q: Do i need to know how to swim?
A: Ability to swim with buoyancy vest is Mandatory. The ability to swim vast distances is not essential but basic confidence in and under water without panic is fundamental to safe water sports.
