About the Event

Find out from Dr Seah, about the different types of breast cancer surgery and the surgical considerations she makes when helping a patient decide what is best for her. She will also explain various oncoplastic techniques and current methods used for breast reconstruction.

About the Speaker:

Dr. Melanie Seah embarked on her medical training at the National University of Singapore (NUS) in 1995 followed by residency training in General Surgery at Tan Tock Seng Hospital. She was later conferred a Fellow in General Surgery at the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.

Upon completion of her fellowship training, Dr Seah was awarded the Health Manpower Development Plan scholarship by the Ministry of Health to further hone her clinical skills in breast oncoplastic surgery at Marien Hospital in Düsseldorf, Germany.

Dr Seah specializes in the management of breast diseases. This encompasses the entire spectrum of both benign diseases and breast cancer. Since her time in Tan Tock Seng Hospital she has been actively involved in breast cancer screening and performing breast biopsies from vacuum assisted biopsies to surgical biopsies.

She is proficient in all aspects of breast surgery and has a special interest in breast cancer oncoplastic surgery. This is where she aims to achieve the best oncologic outcome and cosmetic result possible tailored to each individual patient. These range from breast conservation procedures to skin sparing and nipple sparing mastectomies with immediate breast reconstruction.
