Travelling to Singapore


Singapore dollar is used here and notes come in denominations of S$2, S$5, S$10, S$50, S$100, S$1,000 and S$10,000. Coins come in 5, 10, 20 and 50 cents and S$1.


Tipping is not necessary in Singapore. However it is encouraged whenever you have expereinced good service at hotels and restaurants, in addition to the 10% gratuity included in your bill.


Take advantage of the affordable transportation system in Singapore. Easily transfer from bus to MRT (train) with just a tap in a single ezlink card. Cards can be purchased and reloaded at MRT stations and 7/11 convinience stores.


Singapore has a tropical climate so the island is warm and humid all year round. Temperature ranges from 26°C to 33°C. Be prepared for rain at any time as well, as they can be brief or torrential

No Smoking

Smoking is prohibited in airconditioned places in Singapore such as shopping malls and restaurants. Designated smoking spots are in place to cater towards smokers.

You would be able to converese with Singaporeans in English. As a multiracial country, most Singaporeans know how to speak a second language, possibly being Mandarin, Malay and Tamil.


The standard electrical current used in Singapore is 220-240 volts AC (50 cycles) and you can use power plugs with three square prongs here.


Water from the tap in Singapore is safe for consumption as passes World Health Organization standards.  Bottled water can be easily purchased as well.
