Introduction
JTC’s Future of Mobility Case Challenge 2023 is a competition that brings polytechnic and university students from across multidisciplinary backgrounds together to conceptualise fresh solutions for real-life challenge statements from industry leaders ABB and Hyundai.
Here are the two challenge statements:
1) ABB – Re-designing electric vehicle charging
The power cables delivering up to 500A to charge electric vehicles tend to be very heavy and hard to manage. While we have designed a retractable cable management system, what other solutions can make the charging process more manageable?
Infokit will be shared upon registration.
2) Hyundai – Making mobility more accessible
Universal mobility broadly refers to a state where transport is accessible to everyone, including the elderly as well as those who are physically, cognitively and sensorily challenged. How can we (i) redesign our existing mobility services (public bus, MRT, taxi, private hire cars, shuttle buses, etc.) in-relation to vehicle, service and infrastructure OR (ii) propose more inclusive approaches to enable these disadvantaged groups to access public transport?
The top two winners for each challenge statement will walk away with $1,500 and $500 in cash respectively. Internship and full-time employment opportunities may also be offered to students from the winning teams.
To participate in the challenge, simply form a team* of three to five students, and appoint a member to register on behalf of the team by 30 November 2022. All members must be either polytechnic students or undergraduates at the point of the final date of the competition.
*Team members do not need to be from the same faculty, school or university.
