Morocco has become a major player in African economic affairs in recent years, and is the 5th largest economy in Africa. The country is benefiting from a commitment to economic reforms that encourage a dynamically evolving private sector. Policies that facilitate competitiveness and diversification of the productive base have contributed to an annual economic expansion averaging 4% over the past five years.

Trade is important to Morocco’s economy; with exports and imports comprising approximately 81% of GDP. The service sector accounts for just over 50% of GDP and industry another 25%. Growth is driven by tourism, telecommunications and information technology.
