Singapore Accreditation Council (SAC) is celebrating 30 years of accreditation this year. As part of the celebration, SAC is organising the SAC Customer Day, in conjunction with the World Accreditation Day on 9 June. The theme is Accreditation – A Global Tool to Support Public Policy.
SAC has invited an overseas speaker, Dr Llew Richards to share on the global trend in the regulatory landscape and to share on how overseas regulators, in particular Asia Pacific and New Zealand, have used accreditation.
The SAC Customer Day is organised to give recognition to the newly accredited Conformity Assessment Bodies (CABs) and to celebrate the achievements of accreditation, made possible by the contributions of various stakeholders.
There will be a Discussion Forum to engage the participants and seek your valuable comments and feedback on various topics, including adoption of technologies for conformity assessment and mandatory issuance of endorsed certificates and reports.

Dr Llew Richards is the CEO of New Zealand’s national accreditation authority, IANZ, a position he has held for nearly 20 years. Prior to that, he was Chief Executive of New Zealand’s Heavy Engineering Research Association for ten years. As part of his current role, he has Chaired the Asia Pacific Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (APLAC), served on the Executive Board of the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC), and has held Governance roles in a number of New Zealand organisations. Llew has a master’s degree in Physics, and a doctorate in Mechanical Engineering.
