Explore the colourful world of plates and bowls that many hawker dishes are served in today in this new book published by In Plain Words. Through stories from hawkers, customers and a tableware manufacturer, discover how these everyday designs have become a part of Singapore’s hawker culture.


Justin Zhuang is an observer of the designed world and its impact on everyday life.


Sheere Ng is a food writer and researcher with an interest in the intersections of food, immigration, and identity. Together, they run the writing studio and imprint, In Plain Words.
