ELECTROCARDIOGRAPHY STRESS TESTING
A SHORT COURSE ON MEETING THE NEW REQUIREMENTS
SYNOPSIS
The proposed Standards on Provision of Electrocardiography Stress Testing will require
minimal qualifications for a doctor to supervise a treadmill :
(i) A specialist in Cardiology or Respiratory Medicine or Sports Medicine, having been
accredited by the Specialists Accreditation Board; or
(ii) A Family Physician with MMed (Family Medicine), having been accredited by the Family
Physicians Accreditation Board; or
(iii) Designated Medical Officer and above by the Department in all public hospitals; or
(iv) Any doctor who has completed a MOH‐approved course on meeting the EST Standards.
Completion of this course thereby fulfilling (clause iv) will help to fulfil this requirement if
the doctor does not fulfil the other criteria. This course is endorsed by the College of
Physicians, Chapter of Cardiologists, Singapore.
