OVERVIEW

As adults who live in urban, high-pressure and fast-changing contexts, what would we gain if we spent more time at play? Would this help us reconnect with our spontaneous, energized and creative selves? Would we become more effective and inspiring collaborators and leaders in the process?

Asst Prof Charlene Rajendran will examine the dynamics of play, with particular reference to the arts as a creative platform.  She suggests that a ludic sensibility contributes to the development of vibrant and innovative individuals and communities. As the space for play is shrinking and the courage to believe in play eroding, she will discuss what it will take for us to commit to the work of learning to play…again.

Charlene Rajendran is an Assistant Professor at the Visual and Performing Arts Academic Group, National Institute of Education, an Institute of Nanyang Technological University, Singapore.
